About the Al-Zahir Baybars Group

One of Yarob’s scout groups, with a well-established track record in working with children and adolescents. Over the years it has been a safe educational and social space where children move from simply joining activities to gaining skills, taking responsibility, working as a team and leading.

Scouting at Al-Zahir Baybars is built on learning by doing: children don’t just receive knowledge — they live it, try it and apply it. The group serves boys and girls, children and adolescents alike, with a flexible admissions policy that respects children’s diversity and social backgrounds.

The march to the summit

Stage 1

Cub Packs

Age group6 – 9 years

The first stage of scouting. Children learn to belong to the group, to work as a team, self-discipline and their first life skills through games and activities suited to their age. It lays the values and social foundation that stays with the child through the later stages.

Stage 2

Scout Troops

Age group10 – 13 years

A stage for deepening scouting skills: planning, pitching tents, knots and lashings, directions and maps, the compass, first aid and survival skills. Children start taking on real responsibilities in their team and learn that the group’s success depends on everyone taking part.

Stage 3

Senior Scout Units

Age group14 – 16 years

The move from learning to responsibility and initiative. Adolescents gain advanced skills that help them become self-reliant, plan, carry out tasks and take part in camps and community service — preparing them for more advanced roles in scouting and volunteering.

Stage 4

Rover Crews

Age group18 – 30 years

Young men and women who have stayed on as scouting volunteers. They help run activities, accompany children in the field and pass on their experience. Through them Yarob aims to offer a safe, creative space built on exploration, experimentation and self-confidence — turning volunteering from taking part into an experience of leadership and social responsibility.
